Brora

Brora distillery, renowned for its exceptional Scotch whisky, holds a significant place in the history of whisky production. Situated in Brora, Scotland, the distillery commenced its operations in 1819 under the name Clynelish. Established by the Duke of Sutherland, it quickly gained recognition for its fine craftsmanship and quality spirits.

For over 160 years, Brora distillery produced a range of exquisite single malt Scotch whiskies, captivating the hearts of whisky connoisseurs worldwide.

Brora, originally known as “Clynelish,” had to change its name with the opening of a new distillery in 1968. This second facility, also named Clynelish, prompted a rebranding of the original distillery to Clynelish B, while the new one was termed Clynelish A. In 1968, Clynelish B temporarily closed its doors, only to reopen in 1969 under a new name: Brora. From this point, both distilleries operated side by side until 1983 when Brora ceased operations and was mothballed.

But the story doesn’t end there. After a hiatus of 38 years, Brora distillery was revived and production resumed in 2021. This momentous occasion brought delight and excitement to the whisky community, as it meant the continuation of the iconic Brora whiskies.

The allure of Brora Scotch whisky lies not only in its rich history but also in the distinct characteristics of its spirits.

With the revival of Brora distillery, whisky enthusiasts have the opportunity to explore and appreciate the timeless elegance and complexity of Brora Scotch whiskies once again. Each bottle represents a piece of whisky heritage, a testament to the passion and dedication of the distillery’s craftsmen.

Whether you’re a seasoned collector or an avid whisky enthusiast, adding a bottle of Brora Scotch whisky to your collection is a testament to your appreciation for the artistry and heritage of Scotch whisky.

In conclusion, Brora distillery and its iconic Scotch whiskies hold a special place in the hearts of whisky lovers. The journey of Brora, from its founding as Clynelish to its closure in 1983 and subsequent revival Brora, showcases the enduring allure and timeless appeal of Scotch whisky. As you embark on your own whisky exploration, consider adding a bottle of Brora Scotch whisky to your collection, a true treasure that embodies the spirit of Scotland’s whisky heritage.
