Karuizawa 1976/2009 Noh Whisky – 32 Year Old Single Cask #6719
The Karuizawa 1976 Noh Whisky – Kamiasobi "Hagoromo" is one of the most iconic releases from the legendary closed Japanese distillery, uniting exceptional whisky with one of Japan's oldest and most revered performing arts. As part of the celebrated Noh Whisky Series, this bottling pays tribute to the elegance, symbolism, and timeless beauty of traditional Japanese theatre.
Distilled in 1976 and matured for 32 years in a single Sherry Butt (#6719), the whisky was bottled in 2009 at its natural cask strength of 63.0% ABV. Only 486 bottles were produced, making it a highly collectible official release from Karuizawa's increasingly scarce remaining stock.
The label features "Hagoromo", one of the most famous plays in the Noh repertoire. A masterpiece of classical Japanese theatre, Hagoromo tells the story of a heavenly maiden whose celestial feather robe is discovered by a fisherman, symbolising grace, harmony, and the connection between the earthly and divine worlds. The artwork beautifully complements the whisky, transforming the bottle into both a collector's item and a celebration of Japanese cultural heritage.
Released nearly a decade after the distillery ceased production, this expression captures the unmistakable character that made Karuizawa legendary. Combining long maturation in sherry oak, exceptional rarity, and artistic presentation, the Noh Series has become one of the most admired collections among enthusiasts of Japanese whisky.

Since its closure in 2000, every official release has become increasingly scarce, cementing Karuizawa's reputation as one of the most collectible names in Japanese whisky.
Among its many celebrated series, the Noh Whisky Collection stands out for combining exceptional single-cask whiskies with artwork inspired by Japan's classical Noh theatre, creating bottles that are admired equally for their artistic and historical significance.
