A rare expression from the legendary Hanyu Distillery, this 14-year-old single malt was distilled in 2000 and bottled in 2014 as part of the highly collectible Ghost Series No. 3. Its unusual Grappa Cask Finish gives this release a distinctive place among Hanyu's historic bottlings.
Matured for 14 years and drawn from a single cask (#1702), this whisky was bottled at a powerful 59.9% ABV. With only 120 bottles produced, it represents a particularly scarce example of Hanyu single malt from the distillery's final era.
The whisky was bottled specifically for Nonjatta in association with Bar Keller, Kyoto, adding another layer of exclusivity to an already highly limited release. The combination of the 2000 vintage, individual cask, unusual finishing cask, and tiny production run makes Ghost Series No. 3 an especially interesting bottle for collectors of historic Japanese whisky.
As a Distillery Bottling, this release preserves the identity of Hanyu itself rather than being an independent interpretation. Bottled at natural high strength and presented in a limited edition of just 120 bottles, it stands as a rare surviving expression from a distillery whose original stocks have become increasingly difficult to find.
