Hanyu 1988/2008 20 Year Old #7003 - Queen of Clubs

A remarkable expression from the legendary Hanyu Distillery, this 20-year-old single malt was distilled in 1988 and bottled in 2008, representing a mature example of whisky from one of Japan's most sought-after closed distilleries.

Matured for two decades before being bottled from cask #7003, this expression received an American Oak finish, adding another dimension to the whisky's long maturation. Bottled at a powerful 56.0% ABV, it retains its natural intensity and character.

Released as part of the distinctive Queen of Clubs series, only 330 bottles were produced. With Hanyu having ceased production in 2000, original bottlings from the distillery have become increasingly scarce and highly collectible, offering a fascinating glimpse into the early history of Japanese single malt whisky.

About the Distillery

Hanyu Distillery was established in Saitama, Japan, and became known for producing distinctive single malt whiskies before closing in 2000. Following its closure, the remaining stocks gained legendary status among Japanese whisky collectors.

Hanyu's legacy was later continued through the work of Ichiro Akuto, whose releases helped introduce the distillery's remaining casks to a worldwide audience. Today, original Hanyu bottlings are among the most sought-after pieces of Japanese whisky history.
