Hanyu 2000/2008 8 Year Old #9601 – Five of Spades
A rare late-production expression from the legendary Hanyu Distillery, this single malt was distilled in 2000, the final year of the distillery's production, and bottled just eight years later in 2008.
Matured in an American Oak Refill Sherry Butt, cask #9601, this whisky was bottled at a powerful 60.5% ABV, preserving the spirit at a remarkably high natural strength. Its distinctive Five of Spades label places it within Hanyu's celebrated card series.
With 632 bottles produced, this is a particularly interesting example of Hanyu's final production era. As one of the last vintages distilled before the distillery ceased operations, it represents a fascinating piece of Japanese whisky history and an increasingly scarce collectible from one of Japan's legendary closed distilleries.

About the Distillery
Hanyu Distillery was established in Saitama, Japan, and produced whisky until 2000, when the distillery ceased operations. Despite its relatively short production history, Hanyu has become one of the most celebrated names among collectors of Japanese whisky.
The remaining Hanyu casks later became the foundation for a number of legendary releases, helping establish the distillery's cult status. Original Hanyu bottlings are now highly sought after as important pieces of Japanese whisky history.
