Karuizawa 1991 22 Year Old SMWS 132.2 - Stunning Panorama of Exotic Fruits
The Karuizawa 1991 SMWS 132.2 is a Japanese single malt whisky distilled on 4 September 1991 at the now-closed Karuizawa distillery and bottled in 2013 after 22 years of maturation. Released by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS), this single-cask expression matured in a refill ex-Sherry Butt and was bottled at 62.4% ABV, with an outturn of 335 bottles.
Titled Stunning Panorama of Exotic Fruits, the bottling carries the SMWS cask reference 132.2. The Society is known for identifying its whisky releases by distillery codes and individual cask numbers, giving this Karuizawa expression a distinct identity within its range of single-cask bottlings.
The combination of a 1991 vintage, 22-year age statement and refill ex-Sherry Butt maturation makes this a distinctive example of mature Karuizawa single malt. Bottled at 62.4% ABV, this limited release is of particular interest to collectors of rare Japanese whisky and SMWS bottlings.

About Karuizawa
Karuizawa was a Japanese single malt whisky distillery located in Nagano Prefecture. Production ceased in 2000, and the original distillery was subsequently dismantled. Its remaining whiskies have become highly sought after by collectors, particularly vintage releases matured in sherry casks. Today, Karuizawa is one of the most recognisable names in the rare Japanese whisky market.
