Karuizawa 1991 21 Year Old 63.7% #9091 - The School of Malt, Lesson III
This 21-year-old Karuizawa single malt was distilled in 1991 and matured in a Sherry Butt, before being selected for The School of Malt – Lesson III. Bottled by Whisk-e Ltd., the release carries a label created for the series by renowned whisky writer Dave Broom.
Coming from Cask #9091, the whisky was bottled at a formidable 63.7% ABV. At 21 years of age, it represents a mature single-cask expression of Karuizawa, with the full strength of the individual cask preserved.
Part of The School of Malt, this release was created around the educational concept of exploring whisky through individual expressions. The Lesson III designation and the Dave Broom label give the bottling a clear identity within the series, while its Karuizawa provenance makes it a particularly interesting piece of Japanese whisky history.

About the Distillery
Karuizawa Distillery was a Japanese whisky producer based in Nagano Prefecture, known for its single malt whisky and particularly its Sherry cask maturation. Whisky production ceased in 2000, leaving behind a finite stock of original whisky from the distillery's historic production years.
Today, Karuizawa single-cask releases from different vintages and maturation periods are highly sought after by collectors. Bottlings such as Cask #9091 preserve an individual expression from this important chapter in Japanese whisky history.
