The Karuizawa 1993 SMWS 132.3 is a Japanese single malt whisky distilled on 21 July 1993 at the now-closed Karuizawa distillery and bottled in 2013 at 20 years of age. Selected and bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS), this release matured in a refill sherry butt and was bottled at 61.1% ABV.

Titled Dark, Mysterious and Seductive, this expression belongs to the Society’s series of characterfully named single-cask releases. Its SMWS reference, 132.3, identifies the Karuizawa distillery and this particular bottling, while the refill sherry butt provides the defining cask detail recorded for the whisky.

With a 1993 vintage, a 20-year age statement and an outturn of 344 bottles, Karuizawa 1993 SMWS 132.3 is a limited release representing the distillery’s sought-after single malt whisky.
