Karuizawa 1999 13 Year Old 62.9% #879 - Memories of Karuizawa
Distilled in 1999 and bottled in 2012, this Karuizawa single malt comes from the Memories of Karuizawa series, created to preserve and celebrate the remaining stocks of one of Japan's most renowned closed distilleries. The whisky matured for 13 years in a Sherry Butt, offering a single-cask expression with a clearly defined vintage and maturation history.
The whisky was drawn from Cask #879 and bottled at an impressive 62.9% ABV. Limited to 510 bottles, this release captures a specific Karuizawa cask at its natural strength and forms part of the highly collectible bottlings associated with the distillery's remaining stocks.
Bottled for Number One Drinks, the release combines the Karuizawa distillery's original whisky with the independent bottling projects that helped bring its remaining casks to collectors around the world. The 1999 vintage places it among the final years of whisky production at Karuizawa.

About the Distillery
Karuizawa Distillery was a Japanese whisky producer based in Nagano Prefecture, established in 1955 and known for its distinctive single malt and Sherry cask maturation. Whisky production ceased in 2000, making the remaining original stocks finite.
The surviving Karuizawa bottlings, particularly those from individual casks and historic vintages, have become highly sought after by collectors. The Memories of Karuizawa series forms part of this legacy, preserving individual expressions from the distillery's remaining stocks.
