Trinidad Rum with a Unique Character
The Caroni Distillery was founded in 1923 on the site of the old Caroni Sugar Factory. It was renowned for producing a distinctive heavy profile single Trinidad rum with a unique character, vast depth, and immense complexity. In 2002, despite heavy protests, it was closed.
The Tortuga Release – Homage to the now defunct Distillery Caroni
The Tortuga release pays homage to the now defunct distillery and has partnered with The Sea Turtle Conservancy, formerly known as the Caribbean Conservancy Corporation, the world’s oldest sea turtle research and conservation group, to prevent sea turtles from disappearing. Founded in 1959 to save sea turtles from eminent extinction, the organization carries out Worldwide Programs to conserve and recover sea turtle population through research, education, advocacy, and protection of the natural habitats upon which they depend.
Caroni Tortuga Series
The Caroni Tortuga Series aims to raise awareness and support the Conservancy’s endeavor’s by enabling consumers to directly contribute to Sea Turtle Conservation by drinking the Caroni Tortuga Series rum. Each bottle has a QR code, where the bottle owner can track a school of turtles supported by their purchase via GPS.
