The legendary Hanyu Queen of Hearts 1990, bottled in 2006 from cask #9102. Initially hogshead-matured, it was finished in French oak ex-Cognac cask.
Hanyu distillery halted production in 2000, boosting demand for its single malts in Japan. Venture Whisky, led by Ichiro Akuto, acquired remaining casks post closure due to economic challenges. 2005 marked the debut of Ichiro’s Malt single casks. While Akuto’s legacy includes Chichibu distillery, his zenith is the Hanyu ‘Card’ series – 58 releases, adorned with playing card labels, cherished collector’s pieces that make a lasting mark on Japanese whisky history.
