Caroni Paradise #2 limited edition, an La Maison Du Whisky exclusive.
The Paradise range features exceptional rums discovered by Luca Gargano in 2004 after Caroni distillery’s closure. With vintages spanning 1974 to 2000, they were sent to France’s Cognac region for barrel selection and then moved into demijohns for further maturation. Named in tribute to a cognac tradition, the Paradise bottlings rest in glass demijohns, akin to housing some of the oldest cognacs.
The mouth-blown glass bottles by Massimo Lunardon from Italy are adorned with Trinidadian artist Che Lovelace’s mesmerizing artworks, capturing the luxurious landscapes of Trinidad and Tobago. These captivating paintings transport us to a world where humanity and nature harmoniously intertwine. Experience the Paradise range, embracing Caroni’s rich heritage and artistic brilliance in these exceptional bottlings.

Introducing “Paradise #2,” a distinctive 24-year-old rum that was distilled in 1998 at the famed Caroni distillery in Trinidad and handpicked for bottling by independent curator Velier. Made from molasses and bottled straight from the cask with a robust 56.3% ABV, this limited offering of just 232 bottles is in high demand.
The rum is marked by its aromatic blend of rubber, tar, vanilla, and nutty caramel, which transitions into flavors of rubber, tar, smoky vanilla, and leather when tasted. Users of RumX commend its harmonious balance, velvety texture, and signature Caroni Paradise attributes. The spirit features lighter, fruity undertones that add an accessible complexity, making it an excellent example of the 1998 vintage, even if it’s not considered an extraordinary release.
