Macallan 1979/2019 40yo 57,2% cask#2803 Fine and Rare is a standout whisky from Macallan’s Fine and Rare series (launched 2002). Macallan shifted focus to single malt in the 1980s, coinciding with a surge in demand for their high-quality releases. Despite competition from Glenfiddich and Glenlivet, Macallan remains the most sought-after brand. The demand was so high that a new distillery, with 36 copper pot stills, was opened underground in 2018 on the Easter Elchies estate.
