The distillery closed its doors in 2011, even though it had ceased whisky production over a decade earlier. Thanks to various bottlers, we can still enjoy bottles of precious Karuizawa to this day. Karuizawa 1995 13yo 63% cask#5007 is from another famous Noh single cask from Karuizawa, distilled in 1995 and bottled 13 years later from single sherry butt #5007. Presented in its original box, only 246 bottles were ever released.
This particular whisky is part of the Karuizawa Noh series, celebrating one of Japan’s traditional performing arts. The label of this Karuizawa Noh Whisky was created by the Kamiasobi Noh Troupe and depicts a female character named Kanawa, who transformed into a demon and attempted to harm her husband after he abandoned her for another woman.
